Duplication of keysEmergency
One of the most important factors in the security of a locking system is the control of the duplication of existing keys. Unauthorized key duplication has played a major role in compromising even the most sophisticated security systems. Tenants, maintenance personnel, construction workers, and employees with even temporary access to original keys have no problem getting duplicates made for their own use. The warning "Do not duplicate" stamped on a key is merely a challenge for most non-professional key duplicators. Restricted Key Way Systems PROTECT You from This Happening to Your Home or Office!
Ellis Repair Service Locksmith offers the highest in key security. For restricted keys, we maintain a record of authorized signatures and only make keys when requested by someone authorized to obtain keys. We make restricted keys for home, business.

Emergency Service FAQs
Does it cost more for "Emergency Service" after 5PM?
Yes, later in the evening hours may have a nominal added charge for the after hours service. Please feel free to call for a quoted price for later night services. However, we believe that pricing should be fair and honest. We do not gouge our customers due to them having a problem at night or on weekends.
Do you do service work on weekends?
Yes, we understand that you may have a problem getting work done during the week and we can schedule work for weekend and or evening hours. We do many service calls on Saturday or in the later evening hours with a nominal added charge for the service
I'm locked out of my house or business can you help me?
Sure, we do hundreds of residential / commercial lockouts. We do require that you have some sort of verification that you are authorized to enter the premises pursuant to South Carolina State Law. For example, for a home, the address on your divers license should match the address you are requesting unlocked. However, they are other forms of ID that may be accepted.
Will unlocking my lock/car/ business damage the locks?
No, in 99% of the cases we can gain access with no damage to the lock or mechanism. In the case of automobiles, we have invested hundreds of dollars in equipment that is designed to open specific vehicles with no damage. Most home or business locks can be opened with no damage. however, high security locks such as Abloy, Medeco, Best IC Core, and similar are designed to prevent any type of manipulation and sometimes the only way to defeat these style locks is methods that render the lock unusable.
Can You Open A Locked Safe?
Yes, If you lose the combination and you cant get it open, it is doing what it was designed to do.
Safe opening has been considered an art and or a science. A technical element is applied and the experience and natural instinct of the safe opener is important, at Ellis we have the tools to open any safe big or small and also the knowledge for the task.
If your safe fails to open and you do have a combination, many times we can open it in a very short time and repair it. Sometimes a safe has a mechanical failure and must be drilled open. This does take longer and is more costly.
No matter the case Ellis Repair Service is your safe repair specialist.

Pick-Resistant Locks
Bump Key Awareness
Most new houses and almost all old houses come standard with locks that can be picked, kicked, pried, or bumped open. A bump key is a modified house key that can open just about any standard door lock in less than 5 seconds. The bump key is inserted into the lock, tapped with a solid object, and the lock will open as if you were using the regular key. YouTube has over 40 videos that explain exactly how to make and use bump keys.
Our Solution to Bump Key Entry
We can help protect you from intruders from using the bump method. Our experienced staff can help you. We have locks that are pick resistant and bump resistant. Often pick resistant & bump resistant locks are very expensive. Ellis Repair Service Locksmith's know how hard you have to work to earn your money. So we now have a less expensive high security lockset available to help service customers who have a smaller budget. What ever your budget to secure your house may be, let our locksmith EXPERTS get you more security bang for your buck and feel at peace.
Weak Strike Plates Fail Easily When Kicked
Most houses come with locks that have a strike plate on the frame that does not offer much security protection. This can be devastating to home owners. Over the many years we have seen about 80% of the houses have these weak strike plates.
We challenge you to a test:
-
Get a Phillips screw driver and remove the strike plate on the frame, the one that the deadbolts bolt slides into.
-
Try to bend the strike plate (It probably bends easily)
The problem with this strike plate is that screws are to small and when you screw the strike plate to the frame it will only screw into the light weight decorative wood. This is a problem because when someone kicks or pries your door it will just break the decorative wood and allow entry.
Now you’re probably thinking to just put install longer screws into the strike plate and you will be safe. If the bendable strike plate is anchored correctly when kicked or pried it will just bend and break just as easy as with short screws
Ellis Repair Service Locksmith Solution:
Option 1. Ellis Repair Service Locksmith can install a heavy duty strike plate with long screws and a thick gauge metal construction. The screws will be very long and screw into the stud behind the decorative wood and the strike plate will be equally strong to help against kicks and pries.
Option 2. Ellis Repair Service Locksmith can install a heavy duty metal sleeve to cover your entire door frame. This product will be anchored with multiple long screws that anchor to the studs behind the decorative wood and provide an even more secure solution.
Your family’s safety and the protection of your home has never been more important. Ellis Repair Service Locksmith Service is here to provide you with the best security solutions to help protect your family against the threat of home invasion, burglary and forced entry
